This week, Year 5/6 led us in a whole school liturgy about how and where we encounter Jesus in our lives. They chose a song called With Everything by Hillsong Worship because it reminds us that Jesus is always with us and we just need to stop and take the time to be with him. We sat in a circle so that we were all focused on the prayer table in the centre of the room which symbolised how Jesus is central to the lives of Christians.
Darcey read the scripture about the road to Emmaus and the children discussed how the disciples lives were changed after they met Jesus on the road. Arthur said it reminded him of the Pentecost scripture because their hearts burned within them with love of Jesus and we need to be the same when we encounter him.
Because we are so busy in our lives and often forget to make time for Jesus, Amya led us in a prayer asking Jesus to help us to encounter him in our hearts, minds and actions.
The mission they gave us was to find a quiet place, close the door and light a candle then spend a few minutes encountering Jesus in the stillness of our hearts.
Year 2 evaluated the liturgy. Jack really enjoyed the song because it reminded him that Jesus is always there and we just have to be with him. Ned said that the prayer helped him to think about making time for Jesus. Piper thought that meeting Jesus on the road would be really exciting!
Year 2 wanted the next liturgy to have a chance for everyone to sing and for us all to join in with a prayer.
