This week’s word is individuality. This means that we are all different! Mrs Beer explained that this is a very good thing as we all have our gifts and talents which we can use to serve others.
In this piece of scripture, St Paul reminds us that we must put our individual gifts to good use – it is no good having them if we do not use them!
You might be great at sport, a wonderful listener, someone who is very kind, a great friend, fantastic at maths, a leader or any number of other things!
This week, your mission is to recognise what makes your friends and family individuals – what is their special gift? Once you have recognised it, tell them how great it is that they have this gift!

This week the children in EYFS have been thinking about the gifts that they and others have. They recognised that one of their classmates has a gift for writing and one child said ‘You’re good at writing.’ Another child recognised that Miss Cain has a gift for carrying out embroidery and they said ‘Thank you for sharing your embroidery with us’ Another child spoke about how a classmate was good at dancing and they said ‘Thank you’ and gave him a clap.
In Year 5 we have spent some time sharing the things we love about each other, we made sure to not point out the obvious and think deeper about our peers. We want to continue to do this as often as we can to make sure we all feel loved and unique.
In year 2 we spoke in depth about how unique and different we all are and how we should celebrate our individuality rather than be ashamed or embarrassed by our differences.
As a class we recognised that we all have special talents and that just because you might not be good at one subject you may be outstanding in another, we have lots of great mathematicians, artists, story writers and historians even some comedians and actors.
Matilda said it’s good to be individual because otherwise the world would be boring, and we wouldn’t know who we were as we would all look the same.
Al said it’s good to be individual because it makes us all important and special.
In Year 4 we talked about what makes us all different and what is special about each of us. We discussed how we can use our unique abilities to help others and be part of our school community. We recognised that it is important to acknowledge and compliment others on their gifts and how they use them.
In Year one we talked about how we are all different and how we can recognise and celebrate those differences. We chatted about our different talents and complimented each other which made us feel happy and loved.
In Year 6 this week we have enjoyed thinking about the ways we are all individual and the unique gifts we all have. In our class we have people who are great at: art, football, singing, dancing, reading, maths and making people smile! We thought about ways we could use our unique gifts to make each other happier and made sure to find time to tell our classmates how special they are.
The children each thought about someone in the class and something that makes them individual. They then took turns and shared these ideas with the whole class. An example of what one child said was ‘ I like how you are good at maths.’
