This week’s word is ‘justice’. We began in prayer:
We heard that justice means that everything is fair – that everyone has what they need. As it says in the Bible:
We talked about how different all of the children at St Clare’s are: Catholics, other Christians, Hindus and Sikhs, English, Polish, Italian and from various other countries around the world. Yet, we treat each other the same. It doe snot matter where we are from or which religion we follow, we treat each other equally.
This week’s mission is to find out more about the different cultures we have within our school community and to celebrate them!

In this weeks mission we are celebrating diversity of cultures within our class. We have 2 children who speak a different language at home and 1 child who was born in Africa. We also looked at our last names and how they can celebrate the cultures of our ancestors even though we may not realise. Some of our surnames have links to Slovakian or Icelandic heritage while others are British or Polish.
EYFS discussed lots of different ways that we are different. These include our skin colour, the colour of our eyes ,the colour of our hair, what we wear, those who wear glasses/don’t wear glasses. We talked about how it is important to respect each others differences because we are all part of God’s family.
In Year 2, we have been thinking about how justice is important so that everyone feels valued and equal in our school. Although we are all special and different, together we can make a huge difference to people. We must be like Jesus and make sure that justice must be done.
Year 4 have been talking about how we should treat everyone the same and how how we can show this. We said we could include anyone who wants to play in our games. We could help those who are sad and injured in playground whether they are our friends or not. We talked about justice and be fair. We said we would always listen to both sides of a story and not take sides. We would think about the actions of others and not judge straight away.
In Year One we talked about how everyone is different and how wonderful that is! It would be boring if we were all the same. We talked about how everyone is equal and we recognised and celebrated differences within our class and the wider community.
