EYFS led a whole school liturgical prayer this week where they encouraged us to think about how we can be witnesses for Jesus in our lives by the way we treat other people. They asked us to think about what vocation means to us. The children gave some examples of how they can follow Jesus by the way they live their lives, then told us about Marcus Rashford, a footballer who used his fame to raise awareness of child hunger in the UK and to raise money so that the charity Fareshare could provide 21 million meals to children and their families. He also campaigned to get the government to provide more support for families who cannot afford to buy enough food. His job was to play football but his vocation was to help feed the hungry, just like Jesus did.
Mr Holland read the scripture EYFS had chosen – Romans 12:4-8, which is all about how we are all part of the body of Christ. We are all different and have different skills and talents but we need to use those talents to help others and make God’s world a better place.
They asked us to think about what our talents are then gave us the mission to use them to make the world better by helping someone or teaching someone something new.
