This morning, we welcomed Father Cotton into school from CAFOD.
He led the children in an assembly about the issues faced by different countries around the world at this time of year.
Father talked about how we can give a different type of gift this Christmas, in World Gifts – such as cows and chickens – instead of toys and sweets.
Father left the children with a mission: to discuss how we can help people in other countries this Advent. Let us know in the comments below how you achieve this mission.

In Year 4 we spoke about how we can both raise money for those around the world and also keep them in our thoughts and prayers. Not only that but we discussed ways of raising funds which could be fun or interesting. We then spoke about how these acts of kindness make us and others feel.
In Year 2 we talked about raising money for CAFOD so that we can help those in other countries that need water, food and jobs. We also spoke about keeping people from around the world in our class prayers.
The children in EYFS have decided that they will raise money for CAFOD during Advent by keeping some pocket money that they receive and donating it to enable people from around the world to buy essential items like warm clothing, blankets, fuel, and food in preparation for winter.
Year 6 will collect their change to Mary’s Meals and donate to CAFOD’s World Gifts. We will also keep all of those in need in other countries in our prayers so that God may help them with what they need and provide them with love throughout difficult times.
