This week’s word is ‘scripture’. We talked about scripture being the Word of God in the Bible.
We heard this scripture:
In this passage, we are told that we should have the awe, wonder and excitement of a small child in order to enter the Kingdom of God.
We reflected on yesterday being the Feast Day of Santo Ninos – celebrated in the Catholic Filipino community.
One of our children brought in the statue of Santo Ninos and told us how he had celebrated the Feast Day by dancing and carrying the statue in two hands. The statue is of Jesus as a child, dressed as a King.
Your mission this week is to find a piece of scripture from the Gospels that you have never read before and to reflect on what it means to you.

This week Year 6 looked at Matthew 14: 13-21 and John 6: 1-14. Even though the feeding of the 5 thousand is a story we know very well. We examined the similarities and differences between the two stories and reflected on what the event meant to each person.
In Year 2 as part of our unit we re-read the scripture on Jesus’s baptism. We thought about our own baptisms and why we choose to follow in Jesus’ footsteps. We talked about why John the Baptist felt that Jesus should baptise him and how God appeared to show his pleasure in what both John and Jesus did.
In Year 5 we explored the scripture ‘Jesus calms the storm’ as part of our Lectio Divina with chaplain Alex. We put ourselves in the position of the disciples on the boat and thought about how calm we felt when Jesus helped us. We said that in our own lives we need to remember that Jesus will always be a source of calm and will help guide us in difficult situations.
