Our word of the week is ‘leadership’.
In Monday, we welcomed Father Cotton into school. He launched our next fundraising event – the Big Lent Walk for CAFOD.
All of the children will be walking around the playground for15 minutes every lunchtime, starting today!
They will be asking their families and friends to sponsor them.
In addition, Year 5 will be raising money through a class sale.
We talked about how children can show leadership by setting an example when walking around the playground and when asking for sponsorship.

EYFS have decided to show ‘Leadership’ by leading by example and being good role models to others by behaving well. They are also going to give up some of their lunchtime each day to complete the ‘Big Lent Walk’ and show their family and friends that doing this and raising money to help others for a good cause is an excellent example of leadership.
In year one we talked about how we will be proud to take part in the big lent walk. We want to show everyone that we are trying to help others, just like Jesus.
In Year 4 we discussed how that though we are not the oldest in the school yet, we are also nowhere near the youngest therefore we have plenty of opportunities at school, at home and around the classroom to show Leadership. We also highlighted each others leadership skills as we spotted them throughout the week.
Year talked about wat leadership is and how we can see it in our school. We said that Mrs Beer is a leader who the guides the school and those in it. We also said that we have leaders in our class, the school councillors, our Eco leader and our sports ambassadors. All these children help to lead and guide us in doing the right thing and making sensible decisions.
In our RE unit in Y5 we have been talking about how important serving others was to Jesus, we see this when he washes the disciples feet during the Last Supper,. We said we could be like Jesus by ‘leading by example’ meaning we should do the things we would like other people to do. We can achieve this in our school by helping the younger years with making good choices or helping them if they are upset or hurt. As a class we are showing leadership in service by raising money for CAFOD alongside the Big Lent Walk by selling biscuits.
Leadership is especially important in Year 6. We are the oldest children in the school – the role models. We should be showing all of the other children, especially our buddies, how to behave and how to be good followers of Jesus. In our class we have excellent examples of young leaders in our school councillors, sports ambassadors, eco-team, chaplain, librarians and house captains.
