This week’s word is ‘sacrifice’.
The children were very quick to say that this meant to give something up for others and related it to Jesus dying on the cross for us.
We heard this scripture:

We talked about all of the people who make sacrifices for us:
- Parents and carers who make packed lunches and make sure our school uniform is ready and walk us/drive us to school
- Teachers who give up their weekends to plan lessons

This week’s mission is to say thank you to these people. We talked about how this costs nothing, takes about 10 seconds, but means an awful lot to the person being thanked.
Let us know in the comments below how you achieve this week’s mission.

EYFS have been thinking about the word ‘Sacrifice’ and thanking family and friends for what they do. Some children thanked their parents for organising their clothes to wear, some thanked their mum for making them breakfast/dinner, another for tucking them into bed and another thanked the teacher for filling up their water bottle with fresh water.
This week year 3 completed their mission by thanking someone who sacrifices a lot for them:
Lillian – ‘I thanked my parents for making sacrifices to wash my clothes and look after me’
Fabian – ‘ I thanked Mrs Beer for all the sacrifices she makes to make everyone happy in school’
Nathan – ‘I thanked the lunchtime staff for giving up their time to look after me at lunchtime’
Year 2 said they were going to go home and thank their parents for everything that they do for them. Thank them for their love, washing their clothes, taking them places, making them breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also said thank you to all the adults in their classroom who support them to learn.
