This week’s word is ‘almsgiving’. We spoke about how this means to give things to others.

We heard this scripture:

We then acted it out with different staff donating from the number of coins they had. The main message being, that it is not the amount of money you give, but how much of what you have that you give,

We talked about giving clothes that children no longer wear to charity or giving old toys to others.

Your mission is to give something you have enough of to others. Let us know in the comments below how you achieve this week’s mission.

Year 6 have been thinking about almsgiving a lot in our RE topic and have considered the things we could give to help others. Some children have decided to look through their old clothes / uniform o donate while others thought about sharing the toys and teddies they no longer play with so that other children might enjoy them. Year 6 also said they have a lot of time that they could give to others such as helping our parents or our EYFS buddies.

In Year 2 we are going to give our love to everyone as we have plenty to share. We are going to smile at people that look alone and down, help our parents who care for us and spend time with our families.

Ini – I had lots of kindness to give and Ajai was feeling sad so I gave him a hug.
Isla – I gave some of my leftover dinner to my brother because he was still hungry.
Al – I had a lot of ideas for my English so I helped Sienna because she was stuck.

In year 3 we discussed the ways in which we gave something to someone that we had enough of this week. Lillian gave up some of her toys to give to others and this made her feel happy. Bernadette felt she had loads of knowledge in her head, so she decided to use this knowledge and help others in class.

In Year 5, we believe that small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
We try to help others, support our families, and include anyone who feels left out.

“I invited someone to join our lunch group when they looked lonely. It made us both smile.” – Bernardo
“I help my mum tidy up after dinner to show I care.” – Eliza

Together, we share love through our words and actions every day.
