16th April 2021, response to Miss Jordan’s whole school liturgy
On Tuesday, Miss Jordan did a liturgy about the road to Emmaus and how we can be Missionary Disciples. She showed us a video about two disciples leaving Jerusalem and walking to Emmaus on the day of the resurrection. They were accompanied by a stranger (Jesus); they did not know who the stranger was. The Disciples talked about their worries and their feelings and they felt comforted by the stranger. They didn’t realise how much time had gone by as they reached their cabin at sunset. They invited the stranger inside and they had a meal. Then the stranger took a piece of bread and blessed it. After He broke the bread in half, He gave the Disciples a piece each. The Disciples ate the bread and they realised that the stranger was Jesus. In a flash, Jesus disappeared and the Disciples finally realised it was Jesus. There also was a quiz about the story, which tested us how much we remembered. Today, our first Learning Focus was about the Emmaus walk and we went outside to walk and spend some time with someone we didn’t know that well. Jesus asked us to love one each other and this is easier when we spend time with each other and get to understand each other better.
Our mission is to be Missionary Disciples and show mercy to others. We can do this by, showing kindness and mercy, to treat others how we want to be treated, show forgiveness, we should love one another, guiding people to follow Jesus, telling people about Jesus and by being a messenger of God. Zuzanna says, we should spread Jesus’s word.
The scripture tells us to spend some time with Jesus alone and tell him our worries. Donald says that death isn’t the end and that we should also spend some time alone with Jesus. Supreet says, like the story we should always remember that Jesus will always be with us and we should always know that Jesus loves us. Abigail says, you need to believe in Jesus and most importantly love and Dylan says, that we should be truthful and He will listen to us no matter what. When we pray to Jesus, He forgives us for our sins and like that we should forgive others.
We should try and be Missionary Disciples.
