This afternoon, our Chaplains led the whole school in a liturgy to launch our Harvest food collection to support our local foodbanks.
Josh, Abbie and Hanna began by leading us in prayer
Lord Jesus you fed the hungry,
you shared your bread with all.
Your people hunger now,
and we are called to share your bread.
May rains fall upon the dry and broken earth
and quench your people’s thirst,
so seeds grow tall and flourish,
producing a bountiful harvest.
May we share the blessings you give us
and bring comfort to those in need.
May we show love through our actions
so all have enough to eat.
We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.
Maria then read some scripture to us:
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke
Glory to you O Lord
The people asked him, “What are we to do, then?” He answered, “Whoever has two shirts must give one to the man who has none, and whoever has food must share it.”
The Word of the Lord
Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ
Matilda explained that God tells us that we should share what we have. As we all have enough to eat, we should share with those who are hungry.
Noah gave us our mission: This Harvest, we want you to bring in some items of food that we can give to our local Foodbank. You must bring them in on Friday 1st October when we have our Harvest Liturgy.
We finished by saying the Our Father together.
