Children, earlier this week we explained to you that Bishop Patrick wants to listen to you. He wants to hear all about what you think and what you feel about being part of God’s family. As His children you are loved and cherished by Him, so it is very important that we listen to you.
1)What is your dream for the Church and your school? How can we make this happen?
2)Who are the people who feel left out and excluded in the Church? How can we reach out, listen to, and love them? Think of two ideas, one for now and one for the future, to help include them.
3)What does the Holy Spirit inspire us to do in our Church and school? What do you think the Holy Spirit is calling us to do next?
You may choose to share your answers to these questions here or in a poem, picture or a story. We would love to share some of your dreams on display boards in school or on social media, using the hashtags #listeningchurch or #synod.
Remember what Bishop Patrick says, ‘Thank you for helping me with this important task. Never forget that God the Father always wants to hear about his children’s plans and dreams. Don’t be afraid to tell Him all about them. He loves you and will always help you to live your dreams.‘

As part of our World Youth Day event in school, the children in Year 3 at St Patrick’s thought about Bishop Patrick’s questions.
They thought about their dreams for the church in the future.
The children would like to see more people going to church. They felt this could be achieved by providing opportunities for children at church. They would like children’s liturgy groups and would like to help with the offertory procession during mass and have the opportunity to read.
They would also like more signing at mass.
The children felt that the homeless were left out and excluded by the Church. They decided that they could reach out to them by providing them wth food and drink, especially during the winter months.
During Advent, have decided that they will try to help the homeless by collecting items to give to them at Christmas like hats, scarves, gloves and sweet treats.
