Our Year 5 children led us in a beautiful Christingle Liturgy. Unfortunately, it had to be delivered virtually due to the pandemic, but the whole school joined in, along with parents at home through the magic of technology!
It began with the words of the prophet Isaiah.
The Chaplaincy Team then processed into the hall, each carrying a Christingle which they had prepared.
Our Year 5 pupils performed actions to a reading from Genesis, before leading us in prayer. Each class then shared their promise: how they will be a light for Jesus this Advent. The lights were then dimmed as every child held aloft their candle as they sang “This Little Light of Mine”.
After telling us what each part of the Christingle represents, the children let us know what Christingle means to them. Everyone then waved their red ribbons as they sang “Shine, Jesus, Shine”.
After telling us our mission is to be a shining light, to spread Hope, Peace, Joy and Love during the remainder of the Advent season, we ended in prayer before one final song: We are Marching.
