This week, Mrs Beer introduced this term’s theme: Discipleship.

We prayed to be good disciples:

Within the circle of my family and friends

May I be a source of peace, a hand to hold

accessible

generous

loving

A blessing

Within the circle of my acquaintances

May I be a steady rock, a ready shoulder

dependable

trustworthy

caring

A blessing

Within the circle of my community

May I be a light that shines, a love that flows

discernible

accessible

healing

A blessing

Amen

Our word of the week is ‘inspire’.

Our Mission this week is to inspire others to live a better life by being good disciples of Jesus.

Just as the disciples were inspired by Jesus, we must inspire others through our own actions.

Let us know in the comments below how you get on.

In year 2 this week we have been thinking about how our behaviour inspires other people to live better lives. We thought about the example of Jesus and how we can be more like him.

Year 4 discussed how different people inspire us like the Saints we have previously learnt about. They also discussed how their own parents inspire them everyday because of all the kind things that they do for them and how well their parents take care of them.
Haydn said “Jesus inspires me to want to do good things and to be kind to people, just as Jesus was kind to the blind man”

In Year one we talked about how Jesus inspires us to be the best we can be. He was kind and loving to everyone. We will try to be kind to our friends and use kind hands.

The children in EYFS talked to each other about who inspires them and how they too could inspire others through how they behave. They talked about how they could care for others, as Jesus cared for us and how Jesus’s mum cared for him. They talked about how they could be good role models by working hard at school, helping at home by tidying their bedrooms and being kind to others by sharing and by forgiving others when they upset them.

Children in year 3 created their own individual prayers as part of this weeks mission and RE lesson.

    Dear God,

Help us to inspire others by,
    Helping our parents,
    Being kind
    Helping the poor,
    And teaching others to dance.

    Amen

Year 6 have thought about the people who inspire us and looked deeper into why that is. For some of us it was famous people and for others family members. People inspire us in different ways and for different things. We discussed how we can ensure we are people that could be viewed as inspiring especially as role models to the other children in the school.

Year 5 decided they are going to live better lives by looking after the environment, making sure that they don’t drop litter and that they recycle. They are going to support charities to enable others to live better lives. They are going to do this by giving food, money and clothes who are less fortunate. They are going to eat healthy food and be good role models by looking after each other.
