In Lent, we are particularly thinking about following in Jesus’ footsteps, so Year 2 led us in a liturgical prayer about saying and being sorry. They chose to begin with the hymn ‘A New Commandment’ because ever time we are sorry or forgive others we are living out the words of Jesus, ‘Love one another as I have loved you.’
On the prayer focus, they had the word sorry and some hearts to show that we must have forgiveness in our hearts and a picture of Jesus to remind us that he loves and forgives us always.
They chose the scripture, Matthew 19:14 where Jesus’ disciples would not let the children come to Him. They acted out the scripture and had the disciples say sorry to Jesus for not doing what he wanted and then Jesus forgave them. The children then thought about the message of the scripture. Isabella said that Jesus forgave His disciples because everyone deserves a second chance when they made bad choices because Jesus always forgives. Oliver said that Jesus told us to forgive 77×7 times which means that we must always forgive.
Billy asked us, as our response, to say a silent prayer asking God to help us to forgive others. Piper gave us our mission, which was to forgive others because that’s what Jesus did.

Mrs Owen’s class say that it can be hard to forgive when you are cross with someone. Oakley told us that we must forgive because God told us to forgive 77×7 times.
