This week’s word is ‘Listen’.

We talked about how to listen well:

  • Look at the person talking
  • Be quiet
  • Concentrate on what is being said
  • Have a good response ready

We heard the story of Samuel and how God spoke to him, using him as a messenger.

We talked about how we listen to God when we do Christian Meditation and when we pray. We know we are all busy, but we must find time to spend quietly with God. This is your mission for this week. Let us know in the comments below how you get on.

Year 6 have spent time during prayers to listen to God. We have also studied 2 bible stories this week about other people in the bible listening to God. We discussed what more this could teaches us about this weeks word.

In year 3, we took time to listen to what God was telling us during quiet times during the day, at home before going to sleep and through noticing and listening to things around us.

In Year One we talked about how we make time every week to listen to God in meditation. It is a time to be peaceful and quiet and open our hearts to God.

In Year 4 we discussed how listening can help us ‘advance’ as people. By this, many children meant how they can advance in life, and enhance them selves just through listening attentively. We can find out new things, interesting things & important information. We made a more conscious effort to listen attentively to our talk partners, looking, comprehending and actively listening to all those around us.

in Year 2 we have learning to listen for God during meditation and Lectio. We have learnt that God speaks to us in different ways, he might send us a picture, some words, a story form the bible or we might just feel him.

In EYFS one child said that she listened to God and He told her she was beautiful. The children spent quiet time talking to God every day this week and one child said that God told her He was listening to her, another child said that God said ‘thank you for listening to me.’

In Year 5 we worked hard on our listening skills this week, particularly during meditation, to try and hear what God is saying to us. We spoke about the different ways we might ‘hear’ God; for example through other people, through scripture and through prayer. We must always be listening and looking out for God in our daily lives.
