This week’s word is ‘Joy’.
On Monday, the whole school went to St Wilfrid’s Parish Church for our Christmas Celebration.
We heard the story of Christmas retold through songs, poems and musical performances! I think everyone can agree that we spread joy among the congregation present!
As we celebrate the joyous arrival of Jesus Christ, this Christmas, we remember that not everyone will be eating turkey and opening presents.
There are lots of ways we can bring joy to others this Christmas:
- Giving money to charity
- Donating food to a foodbank
- Helping your parents at home with the housework
- Making a Christmas card for someone
- Help someone with a task
- Smile at people
- Sing carols to your grandparents

Year 3 have begun this weeks mission by spreading joy during their Christmas celebration at St Wilfrid’s Church. The children performed Lat Christmas by Wham on the Ukuleles in front of the whole school and parents and carers.
Year 6 have made Christmas decorations to take home and put on their tree to spread joy to their families. This will stand every year as a reminder of their last Christmas at St Clare’s.
EYFS have decided that they will show Christmas joy by being friends with each other, giving hugs, by showing love by doing kind things for others, sharing a smile and giving presents.
Year 2 have been spreading Christmas joy in lots of different ways. They have helped with the Christmas shopping and the wrapping of presents. Some have helped prepare their homes for the celebration. They have given out Christmas cards to make people smile. Others have sung carols to spread Christmas joy.
In Year 5 we have made Christmas cards for our families to share Christmas joy! We made sure to take extra care and attention when making them so our families know how much they mean to us. We also said we would continue to spread joy over the festive season by singing carols, being helpful and making a big effort to make others smile.
This week in Year 4 we brought Joy to those around us several times in several ways.
We sang and performed beautifully to the congregation at our Carol Concert, we gave our time and helped raise money for Mr Martin’s Charity challenge, we helped each other with final tasks of 2023 during our learning, especially DT! And finally we helped all adults in school make the school look clean and tidy with the various jobs that need doing before we go on our Christmas holidays.
