This week’s word is ‘humility’.
We talked about how humility means to never see yourself as bigger or more important than someone else.
We heard the Bible story of Jesus washing the feet of his disciples.
We discussed how we should follow Jesus’ example and put others needs before our own – that is your mission this week.

In Year 2 we talked about how we could put others first. We said we could let people go before us is in the line, we could let others use equipment first, we also said we could help our parents to show them we recognise all the things they do for us.
In year 4 this wee we have done the following to show humility:
Phoebe-Mae – giving other children equipment even if you want to play with it
Ini – letting your friend choose the game even if you really want to play your own game
Lottie – help your brothers and sisters rather than doing something you want to do
Nicola – allowing someone to have something you want before keeping it for yourself
Year 6 have been practising humility this week by putting the needs of others before their own. They have helped pupils in younger years such as their EYFS buddies, helped their siblings and home and have taken time to talk to people who look lonely. We have also reflected on who has shown humility to us. We recognise the time our older siblings spend with us, the support and love of our parents and the help of our teachers.
This week Year 3 completed their mission by putting other’s first. For example, some children in our class let other’s go before themselves in the dinner queue. Whereas other children let younger pupils play with the sports equipment first at lunchtime.
In year One we talked about how Humility means putting other people before ourselves. We understand that this can be difficult sometimes. We talked about how we want to be like Jesus in this way. We said we would be able to pick up litter even if it didn’t belong to us, let people in front of us in the line and not always having to be first.
This week EYFS have been thinking about ways that we can put others before ourselves. The suggestions that the class came up with were holding the door open for others, letting them go first,praying for others and doing a kind gesture for someone to make them smile.
