This week the Chaplains have been thinking about Our Lady. In prayer group and chaplaincy group they have been learning the Angelus and using it to meditate on how Mary is a role model for all Christians. We talked about the history of the Angelus and how people have prayed it for hundreds of years, three times a day so that Mary is always in their minds and hearts.
As we wait for the coming of Jesus, the Angelus has helped the children to reflect on how Mary loved and trusted God and how we can follow her example in our lives.
During prayer group, children took turns to lead the Angelus and then spent some quiet time with the mother of Jesus and the mother of all Christians.
There are some of their reflections:
Lacey – Spending time with Mary helped me feel calm because she trusted God and never worried. She knew that God only wanted the best for her and would always look after her. I want to try to be more like Mary when I feel worried.
Darcey – I want to try to love and trust God like Mary did. Thinking about how she sacrificed her life to do what God wanted makes me admire and love her.
Martina – I love Mary. Praying to her makes me relaxed and happy.
Owen – Mary loves us all just like God does so I’m going to love everyone like she does.
