This week, Year 34 led the school in a liturgy about Hope. Advent is the season when we wait in joyful hope for Jesus, the light of the world, to be born at Christmas. Their liturgy began with the picture you see at the top of this blog. This encouraged us to think about us moving towards the light, preparing ourselves for Jesus. They chose the song, All My Hope by Hillsong because it reminds us that Jesus is our hope for salvation.
The children chose to focus on the hope for peace in the world and particularly for peace on Ukraine. They shared this beautiful prayer with us:

Dear God, I hope myself, my friends and my family are filled ith joy, hope and love each and every day. I hope that love and peace will end all wars . I hope for a future where all nations live side by side happily and at peace. Amen.
The scripture they shared was Isaiah 2:2-5 which is all about how the Lord will teach us what he wants us to do and will settle the wars between nations so that they will never go to war again and will live in peace. We all hope for a world where everyone can live in peace.
As a symbol of everyone being united against war and in solidarity with the people of Ukraine in hope for a brighter future, we all joined hands and said the opening prayer together. We then promised to say a prayer for the people of Ukraine before we went to sleep so that they do not lose hope and keep on searching for the light of Jesus the Prince of Peace.
What do you hope for in the future?
